Meet Plus Size Model Competition Finalist Lily May

Posted on 15 November 2010

Tagged: , , , , , , ,

How would you describe yourself?

Confident, I don’t really get shy, maybe a little bit today. Happy, positive.

And what about your style?

I like a bit indie but a little bit of glamour thrown in. Everything really, I like a bit of everything.

Why did you enter Simply Be’s Plus Size Model Competition?

Well I saw it advertised and I just thought it was a really good thing. Really good for bigger girls to come in and do it, with a mixture of sizes, it’s nice.

Have you always wanted to be a model?

Not really, but over the last couple of months it’s something that I’ve been thinking about. But not really before that because I was much bigger and I’ve lost a lot of weight, but now yeah. Definitely.

What do you think of Simply Be’s plus size fashion collection?

Yeah I think it’s really nice, I think it has a lot of styles, which is good and quite fashionable, it’s nice, it’s good.

What’s your favourite plus size trend?

Fur, yeah I like fur, I think it’s nice. I do like the army stuff – but fur and aviator jackets, I love them.

What do you think of the whole size zero debate?

I think it’s a really difficult subject. I like seeing the girls on the catwalks, I mean it’s nice, it’s good – but I don’t agree with size zero and I think it’s important to have plus size girls because it gives a good impression and it shows plus size girls that it’s normal. I think it’s really good.

And finally, tell us a weird and wonderful fact about yourself.

I love motorcycle racing. I’ve been to Donnington for the last four years in a row. Big fan of Rossi, I love him.
