Can you believe we’re already into December? 2012 has been quite a year and a fast one at that. Hope you’ve enjoyed the past month, we have and we’re here once again to show you our highlights of what’s been going on, both at Simply Be and in the plus size fashion world!

So if you missed out, stay tuned… :)

It’s the dress everyone’s been waiting for, it’s finally here, as chosen by our very own Facebook fans. This gorgeous blue prom dress, won the Facebook votes back in August and is now available to buy online! We love it and think it’s perfect for all those fabulous Christmas parties, we hope you like the finished version too? :) xx

We came across this interesting article from blogger Chastity Garner Valentine who questions why plus size women are always featured naked. She says: ”The mainstream magazines deliver fully nude layouts of plus-size women. While, I am pleased that plus-size women are not being ignored, I do question, why we can’t have fancy editorials with head-to-toe styling too.” One of the reasons she gives, is that ‘magazines don’t care about  plus-size fashion’ and want to gain as much attention as possible. What are you thoughts on this? Read the full article here.

Speaking of which, UK blogger Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow writes ‘Why Fat, Plus-Size Fashion Bloggers Have Creative Style’ and states, plus size fashion bloggers are more creative and individual in their style than ‘non-plus size fashion bloggers’.

We certainly do love her style, here’s Bethany looking gorgeous in the Rise Annie Beaded dress from Simply Be.

Also in the news this month, were reports that having more plus size models could change women’s ‘obsessions with thin bodies’. Studies from Durham University were carried out on over 100 women to find out how body image is being perceived. The results showed more exposure to a particular type of body, be it slim or ‘plus size’ was preferred, therefore it shows the influence the media can have by over-exposing and glamourising super slim bodies.
