Turning Japanese – Kimono Chic!

Lots of celebs have been spotted rocking the kimono trend recently, from Miley Cyrus to Nicole Richie. Check them out>>

Luckily for ladies everywhere, unlike some trends, the kimono shape is such an easy style to wear. It’s chic, sophisticated and a brilliant way to add a burst of colour to a plain outfit, showcasing some truly stunning prints. Just go with the flowing shape! Or, if you have an hourglass figure, simply add a waist cinching belt. You could even go all the way by adding a Geisha-style obi belt.

Here are some of our favourite kimono jackets and dresses from our current collection:

Georgette Print Kimono Jacket

How to wear a kimono jacket

We’d recommend layering over a cami top – you can’t go wrong with black and white, or pick out a toning colour from your kimono print. Then if it’s a sheer jacket you can reveal that little peek of skin – sexy in a subtle way!

Then add palazzo pants for a really Japanese feel. You can go dressy with plain black trousers – you won’t find a more comfortable evening outfit! Or keep it casual with denim look palazzo pants.

Chunky shoes will top off that Geisha-esque look, either fabulous cork heeled platforms or some towering wedge heels.

Alternatively, dress down your kimono in boho or festival style with fringed sandals, a maxi skirt and lots of hippy accessories! Day or night a kimono jacket will give you effortless on-trend style.

Whether you want to create the impression of incredible curves, or you just want to show off the gorgeous curves you already have to the max, an optical illusion dress is the on-trend way to do it! By using different blocks of colour at the centre and edge of the dress, the eye is drawn to the inner  panel of the dress to dramatic effect.

It’s no surprise that the optical illusion dress has been such a huge hit with celebrities – check out this gallery of gorgeous optical illusion dresses! Kate Winslet, Kim Kardashian and many more have been see wowing the crowds in this amazing style.

Our Monochrome Silhouette Dress is the perfect example of an optical illusion dress:

Gorgeous blogger Allie rocked this dress at a cinema premiere recently – fab or what?

We also have a fierce black and red optical illusion dress – but this one is selling out fast ladies so you’ll have to be quick to get the remaining sizes!

Why not try an optical illusion pencil skirt instead? It creates the look of incredible curves!

For those who aren’t keen on the hip-hugging pencil skirt shape of most optical illusion dresses, the slightly A-line shift dress style of our Anna Scholz Retro Colour Block Dress is the perfect way to work the trend.

Would you work this trend? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

There’s just something about polka dots – especially in black and white.

They’ve got that real 50′s retro thing going on, yet always look fresh. They’re girly – but not frilly or fussy. Quirky – but oh so wearable.

We think it could be love!

Wearing a polka dot blouse with coloured skinny jeans is bang on trend:

A prom dress shape really plays on that fifties theme:

We’re loving the way ladies are currently rocking our polka dot jumpsuit!

Here’s Kellie B:

Polka dots make for adorable accessories:

And retro style swimwear too!

Are you a fan of polka dots?

Highs & Lows – the High-Low Hem Trend

One of the things we love about Fashion is that it never stands still! Not so long ago people had barely heard of palazzo trousers – and now they’re a wardrobe staple.

It’s great when you see a brand new shape emerge – case in point, the high-low hem!

Shorter at the front and longer at the back they give you the best of both worlds. Also known as the ‘mullet’ hem – for obvious reasons! They’re a godsend for petite ladies who find maxis can sometimes be too long – but they’re also great for ladies who like the midi look but want to flash a little more leg :)

The high-low hem dress is perfectly suited to floaty fabrics that stream about behind you as you move.

It’s not just high-low hem dresses that are in though, check out our super-versatile high-low hem skirt:

…and our gorgeous poppy red high low hem blouse:

Will you be rocking a high-low hem this season?

Free as a Bird!

Have you seen our 12 Key Items for your Spring Wardrobe – just added to the site this week?

Here they are in action!

One of our favourite pieces – and it certainly seems to be ruffling  lots of feathers in the fashion blogger world too – is our beautiful bird print dress.

The ‘conversational print’ is a new take on the trend, with origami style birds in tropical colours. We love the way the waist tie can be worn at the front or the back to suit your style.

The bird print has really taken off this season (we didn’t even plan that pun) so we’ve lots more styles to choose from featuring the more classic swooping swallow print.

Leave us a comment to tell us which style you like best!

Girly ruffles on a peachy pink ground:

Swallows and roses in two totally different looking colourways:

Or classic black and white – this one’s selling out fast!

Why not complete your look with this sweet swallow and heart necklace?

Jeans to suit your genes!

We held a plus size fashion Twitter chat a little back, and if we didn’t know it already, it definitely confirmed that people find jeans the hardest item of clothing to shop for.

A less-than perfect fit simply won’t do when it comes to jeans, it’s got to be just right! Yet people come in all different shapes and sizes (it really is a matter of genes!) making finding that perfect fit an often frustrating experience.

So at Simply Be, as well as offering jeans in sizes 14-32 and a huge choice of lengths and colours, we’ve developed some unique lines designed to tackle specific fitting issues. We want every woman to be able to find their perfect pair of jeans!

Fit Your Calf Jeans

Our boots in a choice of wider calf fittings are very popular, so it made perfect sense to offer jeans that are a little more generous in the calf for ladies who are fuller in that part of the leg. No need to restrict yourself to bootcut or wide leg styles any more – go for a slim leg style that shows off your shapely pins to perfection!

Available in 2 colours and 3 lengths.

Fit Your Thigh Jeans

Likewise, many people find it hard to get jeans to fit well at their upper leg – be it because they find standard jeans too tight, or too baggy at the thigh. Enter our Fit Your Thigh Jeans! They’re available in slim fit, regular fit or fuller fit to get a flawless fit for your figure.

Available in 2 colours and 2 lengths.

Wow Jeans

Many ladies wish their jeans would do more than just fit though – they’d like a little extra help in certain areas. Our range of Wow jeans has something to suit everyone.

Our Wow Thigh Slimmer Jeans  have cleverly curved seams and shading to make your legs looks leaner.

Our Wow Tummy Tamer Jeans have a special panel to gently hold in your tummy a touch.

And our Classic Wow Jeans have a host of special features include a non-stretch front panel to flatten your tummy, adjustable hidden elastic to pull in your back waistband and specially shaped back pockets, yoke and darts to create a perkier looking bottom.

What’s more, our  classic Wow jeans are now only £20!

Wendy and Candice love our Wow jeans too:
