All day we’ve been admiring the stars on the red carpet, with so many stunning gowns it was hard to pick our favourites. We absolutely adore Adele, she looked gorgeous in her embellished black gown with sequins and three quarter length sleeves. It was also great to see her win the award for best original song for Skyfall!
Our knee length version of the dress is covered with beautiful sequins – it’s definitely a winning dress for us!
This weekend Simply Be were very proud to take part in the first ever British Plus Size Fashion Weekend, of which we were the main sponsors. A few of the team went down to Shoreditch, London from our head offices in Manchester to represent Simply Be and get involved in all the excitement.
The Simply Be team headed down south to attend the amazing Look magazine fashion show in London. As the first ever plus size fashion brand to be featured in this show, we got the chance to showcase our fabulous autumn winter outfit!
The star studded event took place in this stunning venue; The Royal Courts of Justice.
Guests included Lydia Bright of Towie, Whitney Port from Britain & Ireland’s next top model and Alesha Dixon who performed on stage.
Among the online brands, Simply Be wowed the crowds with our gorgeous lilac on-trend duster coat – our key must-have this season! It really was a show stopper and had all the girls lusting over it. Underneath the coat was our gorgeous Rise beaded dress – perfect for a night out with the girls.
Whilst keeping an eye on the catwalk we also spied this gorgeous lady wearing our very own studded slouch jumper – love it! (Sorry for the grainy pic, quick use of our camera phone )
We’re so proud to be featured in the show, it was a brilliant day and we even got an amazing goody bag of treats to take away… xx
How was your September? It all seemed to go very quickly here at the Simply Be office, and dare we say it, we’re almost on the countdown to Christmas
This month we have enjoyed reading all about the latest fashion trends and who’s been FROWing at London Fashion Week, dusting off our winter jackets and scarves and of course welcoming the return of weekend TV; Downton Abbey and X Factor – cosy nights in are back!
We’ve got a rundown of our fave moments from this month and in case you missed any of it – as always we have it right here…
At the start of the month we had a lovely visit from Gabi Fresh who came from across the pond to attend London Fashion Week. She visited us at Simply Be HQ in Manchester. It was great to meet her and we’re glad to hear she had a lovely time too. Read her blog to find out what she got up to on her Euro trip!

Adele has been speaking out about her weight, declaring she is not ashamed of her curvaceous figure. She has said “I’m not worried, I’m plus size and so much bigger than other artists. No matter what you look like the key is to be happy with yourself.” We just love Adele’s mentality and couldn’t agree more!
Also in the news, Ralph Lauren has taken steps to promote a more healthier body image by hiring its very first plus size model. That’s right, Robyn Lawley is 6ft 2in, a size 16 and one of the world’s leading plus size models. In this interview she explains the importance of showcasing curvy women in the media and praises Lady Gaga for urging fans to ‘triumph over insecurities’.
Here’s Robyn in one of her Ralph Lauren shoots.
Do you agree with Robyn or do you feel as this article suggests that the world is not ready to admire plus size figures? Let us know your thoughts here…
Our new Super Curvy boots are our widest calf fitting boots ever and went under a Big Boot challenge reviewed by bloggers Toni at The Only Way is Toni and Becky at The Ramblings of Mrs BeBe – read their blogs to find out how they got on.
Here they are looking fab in the on-trend riding style super curvy boots:
As we come to the end of September we celebrated our Liverpool store’s 1st birthday. We also helped raised over £1000 for McMillan cancer care at the Liverpool branch when we hosted The World’s Largest Coffee morning.
Here are some fab pics from that day:
More store news to look forward to next month as we launch a Simply Be store in our hometown of Manchester – so watch this space

On Saturday 7th July Simply Be were proud and delighted to be the lead sponsor for what proved to be an absolutely amazing event – Plus North, a plus size beauty and fashion event for bloggers and shoppers alike.
It was all organised by these two lovely ladies – Toni and Becky. *applauds*
Mhairi was responsible for ticket sales – here she is rocking our sarong skirt and shrug:
The Aspire venue in Leeds looked truly beautiful:
As did the cupcakes!
Lots of beauty and fashion brands had stands, including Simply Be of course. Here was our stand before and after the people arrived!
It was sooo lovely to meet everyone. We also raised £70 for charity selling handbag samples!
The highlight of the day though had to be our catwalk show (if we do say so ourselves). Thirteen fabulous bloggers all volunteered to model for us and they did such an amazing job! Visit our Facebook page or our Pinterest page for all the pics.
Here’s Rosie having her make up done by the lovely ladies from Benefit before the show:
Our models afterwards, on a high from walking the runway:
It was great to see some familiar faces – and meet lots of news ones too. Here are Claire, Laura and friend – three blonde bombshells!
It really was a massive honour to be a part of this event and we’d like to say a great big thank you to everyone who help make it such a great success.
See you at the next one?
May has been a great month, filled with gorgeous fashion, lots of sun & Simply Be competitions! For those of you that missed it, here’s a run down of our highlights…
As you’re aware, we’re happy to report that May for the most part has been sunny and HOT – great news for our summer wardrobe! The British heatwave that swept the country saw the maxi dresses out in force – we love the look here at Simply Be and honour it a summer staple.
Check out our Simply Be Great British Summer video
Prints are in and we saw a variety including birds, love hearts, swans and tribal. Bloggers Val, Lauren and Preya are seen here working the car print dress with style! What’s your fave print?
Yet another Simply Be store was opened! This time in Gateshead and we were joined by the lovely Gemma Collins of TOWIE who opened the new branch.
Our stunning model Candice Huffine was on the front cover of S Moda mag, with a featured interview. We think she looks fab!
We received some great pics modelled by you of the high low hem skirt, here bloggers Laura and Val show you how they wear theirs…
We love this look for summer, what do you think?
It was reported that children are already showing signs of body image worries, shockingly as young as five years old. Do you think there is a need for self-esteem classes in school?
And finally we received a great response to our Joe Browns competition – thanks to all who took part. Keep your eyes peeled for more great competitions coming your way in June! And don’t forget there’s still time to enter our Simply Yours Union Jack bra set giveaway from Gossard.
Coming up next in June we’ve got Rosie of aroselikethis on work experience, look out for her guest posts!
What has been your highlight of the month?
Last Thursday at the exclusive Paramount event space in central London, we held our launch event for our forthcoming Zandra Rhodes collection!
In attendance were the Simply Be team (your blog correspondent included!), a host of press journalists, some of our favourite bloggers, nine lucky winners from the Simply Be Facebook page and last but by no means least, Zandra Rhodes herself!
Whilst enjoying a fab breakfast and incredible views across London, press were treated to a sneak peek at the clothing collection and the chance to interview the iconic fashion designer.
It’s fair to say that when we first saw Zandra we were all a bit starstruck but once she started talking to everyone we soon realised just how friendly and down to earth she was. It was wonderful to hear her talking about her collection – it’s clear that she has designed this range with passion and consideration for curves in equal measure.
We were all in awe of Zandra’s outfit; she teamed her pink frill hem tunic for Simply Be with some fabulous sparkly flares, huge red wedges and a much-admired oversized brooch, which she had made into a necklace. And it all worked – it’s all about attitude and how you wear it!
The Zandra Rhodes collection went down a storm and the bloggers and Facebook winners to keen to try it on.
From left to right modelling the Zandra Rhodes collection is:
Louise, Bobby, Zandra, Jo, Kate and Janie. Don’t they look fabulous?
Here’s Lauren from Pocket Rocket blog, looking adorable in our Retro Starlet ditsy print dress:
And the fabulous LaCara from Oh La La Curves blog wearing an abstract print Anna Scholz dress
And here are the other Facebook winners that attended – it really was so wonderful to meet everybody!
Here’s the gorgeous Lisa,
the lovely Toria,
and the fabulous Emma in her Changes Boutique lace dress.
Thanks again to everybody who came along and made it such a successful event!
Festival season is upon us once more – and whether you’re off to Glasto or just taking it all in from your armchair it’s definitely the time of year for boho chic!
We’ve got two new collections at Simply Be that embody the free-spirited nature of the festival.
Festival Style does what it says on the tin! We love the paisley print maxi dress and the fabulous tassel shoulder tunic. Dangly earrings and a headband complete the look perfectly.
Then we’ve got Seventies Boho. This collection still has that seventies feel but with more of a sophisticated twist. Definitely more for fans of ‘glamping’ than those ready to rough it in the mud! These ladylike dresses are sure to make you feel fabulous.
So that’s your outfit sorted but what about your feet? As any experienced festival-goer knows, it’s a grave mistake to bank on the weather going one way or the other. So be ready for rain or shine by packing both sandals and wellies.
Gladiators or toeposts are the natural choice:
And wellies needn’t be drab and dreary. These fun styles will make sure you stand out from the crowd. You’ll love wearing them so much that you’ll even wish for rain! Ok, maybe not, but if it does rain you can at least feel smug that your wellies are better than everyone else’s!
We all love a good wedding don’t we? But what nobody loves is that dreaded ‘what on earth am I going to wear?’ feeling! The best approach is to start thinking about it early – then you won’t end up doing a panic buy a few days before and settling for something that’s not quite right. Everybody always checks out what the other guests are wearing, so make sure your outfit makes everyone green with envy!
It’s worth bearing in mind the style of the wedding and choosing your outfit to suit.
For a traditional wedding go for something soft and feminine; flowing shapes, floral prints and ruffle trims are all perfect.
If your friends have opted for a modern wedding then try a simpler shape but make a statement with a bold colour or print – or both!
If you’re lucky enough to have a beach wedding in your diary then you can keep it more relaxed. Cool and comfy is the order of the day.
