Kathryn describes her blog as ‘A blog tracking my fat acceptance journey… Lots of pretty dresses, separates and print’ Now let’s hand over to Kathryn… :)

How long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging for just over a year now. And what a year it has been!

What do you blog about?

I’d pitch my blog as a fashion / lifestyle blog. I started it mainly to keep a track of my outfit choices, to see which worked and which, on reflection didn’t. I am still amazed when people comment, or message me saying I’ve inspired them, or encouraged them in some way. I don’t see my blog as anything special, it is my space so it’s just filled with my own brand of positivity and style.

Who inspires you? / Where do you get your inspiration from, when writing your blog?

I started my blog after meeting Georgina over at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust, after being inspired by her confidence and her passion for what she was doing. Generally I get inspired by my twitter time line. I see our blogger community make so many different styles from a rather small selection of clothes. Who can fail to be inspired by that?

Biggest achievement? (blogging/otherwise!)

No question, it has to be walking in the Simply Be Fashion show at Plus North. After my previous catwalk experience (if you can call it that), it was an amazingly empowering experience.

How would you describe your style?

I’d mainly call it girly, with a vintage edge. I wear a lot of dresses and skirts, and it is a rare day that I’ll wear trousers – if I do, it is usually with a dress as a top! I’ve set myself challenges to push my style, but for the most part, it is bright, colourful and full skirted!

What do you do when you’re not blogging? / What would be your ideal job?

When I’m not blogging, I’m either strutting down the office (my very own cat walk), or decorating my first house (interior design blog posts will be coming, BELIEVE ME!).

Which celeb style do you admire the most?

I don’t really think there are any celebrities with a style I admire. Style is something more than a red carpet dress, or a ‘papped’ shot. Style is how you wear your clothes, not what make they are or even how well ‘styled’ they are. It is confidence and inner beauty.

Although, if I could have Garcia from Criminal Minds’ wardrobe I would be a very happy Kathryn!

What do you like about Simply Be?

I have just looked in my wardrobe and about 75% of it, is from Simply Be. So without you, I’d probably be going to work in ill-fitting clothes. I love that I can source on trend pieces, if I wanted to, or wardrobe staples, or wide fitting shoes, or lingerie, or a party dress all made to fit ME. It is always the first place I look if I’m on the hunt for something to spice up my wardrobe!

Any favourites from the current Simply Be collection?

Where to start?! I’m obsessed with collars at the moment, so this dress will be making it’s way into my wardrobe somehow:

And as a massive fan of skirts this would spice up my work wardrobe DEFINITELY!

Do you have any style advice/ general words of wisdom you’d like to share with our readers?

To ignore the rules. I’ve ‘followed’ those rules for years and they got me a wardrobe full of things two sizes too big, unflattering, and dull! I’ve pretty much replaced every item in my wardrobe since I’ve started blogging because I’ve realised it didn’t do me justice.

Clothes can highlight your best bits, or highlight your worst bits. Sometimes, I want to be Fat and Proud and wear bodycon and sometimes I don’t and I want my clothes to skim and flatter, it doesn’t matter. As long as YOU like what you see in that mirror, that’s all that matters.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Be yourself. For a time I wanted clothes that hid me. I wasn’t ready to put myself out into the big bad world. I am now. You will too.

What single item could you not live without?

Tights! I live in my black tights no matter the weather! Perfect with my growing dresses & skirts collection!

Apart from your own, can your recommend any favourite style blogs or books we can add to our reading list?

I love the uplifting power of Sera McDaid over at The Agoraphobic Fashionista and her style is infectious! I also covert most of Georgina’s dresses over at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust, she is often the main blog I recommend for bra fitting hints and tips. Hers and Caroline over at Curvy Wordy  are firm (geddit?) favourites of mine whenever I’m preaching about bra fitting!

Shoes or handbags? ;)

I’m a handbag girl if I’m honest – I don’t often find flat (ish) shoes that like my feet, as much as I like them!

Anything else you’d like to get across?

Fashion is what YOU want it to be. Leather and studs are in at the moment. So I wear them with pretty dresses – I don’t let the trends dictate what I wear, I just pepper my clothes with nods to on-trend themes or ideas.

Fabulous tips Kathryn – we are loving your style! If you want to hear more from Kathryn, simply head on over to her blog Miss Kathryn’s MissTakes! xx
