The knit boot!

Quite possibly one of our favourite trends ever, seriously, whoever thought of doing knitted boots is a genius. Just look at them, all those gorgeous Nordic patterns, in black and white – or there’s a colourful one too! We adore them – the knits and that lovely, fluffy lining – it just screams Winter footwear!

Style-wise, we’re thinking jeanslayered gypsy skirts… and anything else in your wardrobe that looks Wintery! Oooh, leggings too, with a plus size knit tunic – that’s going to be a hit! Or why not style them for contrast? Perhaps a lace dress, tights and a cardy – what a great way to mix up the season’s hottest trends!

A word of warning though, you do have to be a tad careful in the rain. These aren’t festival boots, you don’t want to wade through puddles of mud. Having said that, the panel of suede along the bottom will protect them from the worst of it – so showers are fine, but downpours might mean a footwear rethink.

And think of last year – we didn’t have much rain, but boy did we have a lot of snow – and that’s where these boots really come into their own! Seriously, we cannot emphasise enough how warm they are – and just imagine that lovely Nordic knit against a snowy backdrop, it’s a style match made in heaven!

As every fashionable plus size girl knows, accessories are essential. So when we saw the new Spring belt trend on the London Fashion Week catwalks, we just knew you were going to love it!

This season it’s all about knotting your belts. To do it, just tie a knot – or if your belt isn’t long enough, do it up as normal and fold the excess strap over the buckle then tuck it behind your belt.

Next season, it’s all about super-sizing – but instead of wearing really big belts, we’re going to be adding more! Different colours, different sizes and different patterns – layer them on for a SS11 look that will flatter your plus size figure! Remember, waists are totally feminine, so show yours off!

And if you want to see the trend in action on the London Fashion Week Catwalks, just take a look at all the gorgeous shots from Paul Smith’s show! Now isn’t that just the classiest way to wear a belt?

Want to start working the trend? Take a look at all the gorgeous belts in Simply Be’s Plus Size Fashion Collection!

SS11 Fashion is going to be BIG!

We’ve watched the catwalks, studied the designs and made our SS11 trend predictions. And the most noticeable, most unavoidable trend on our list is this – SS11 is going to be BIG! From oversized blazers to voluptuous dresses, barely balanced hats to flaring harems, this season your style is going to be super-sized!

Now in some ways, that’s great for us plus size girls. All those little worries, the things you like to hide – they’re going to be easy to cover up. With so many loose layers and floaty dresses, you have an arsenal of figure flattering trends at your disposal. So when the new season rolls round, remember to use it to your advantage. Show off the bits you love and hide away the bits you don’t! And whatever you wear – work it the plus size way!

But ladies, choose your trends carefully, because some of the new-season looks could very well make a plus size figure look bigger than it is! We’re talking shapeless, oversized dresses and structured bubble skirts – they look great on the models, but in real life, on a plus size girl – not so much!

Anyway, that’s our word of warning. Feel free to ignore – after all, you know your figure better than we do and as we all know, plus size girls come in every shape and size – so maybe you’re the exception to the rule!

The judges have made their decision. I don’t know who they’ve decided on yet, so it’ll be as much of a surprise to me as it is to you. Right now, I’m sat by the side of the stage – rumour has it everyone will be brought on-stage, so the final five can be announced.

It’s going to be a tense moment for the 16 hopefuls, 5 of them will be one step closer to their dream, while the other 11 will be left disappoint. But win or not, every girl here is a prime example of what we’ve always said – curves are gorgeous!

Oh, here we go!

The girls are on stage. Again, I just have to say, they all look great! Each judge is announcing one. First up is Lily May. Next is Sophie Scowen. Then Laura Jones, Catherine Perkins and Amy Sallu. So that’s our final five!

The great walk-off!

I’ve taken my place by the catwalk, ready to watch the girls strut their in front of the judges. They’re all stood around back stage at the moment – but it’s buzzing! Everyone’s getting really excited, they want to get on the catwalk and show the judges what they’re made of. And you know what – they won’t have long to wait!

In fact, here they are! Everyone’s on stage. The judges are going to give them a pep talk before they hit the catwalk. They make a fine line up, lots of style and sophistication!

And this is it! The catwalk is about to start, the girls are going to face the judges with their best foot forward – quite literally, this is a catwalk after all!

Here’s comes Pamela, she looks fab. Lots of small movements, very subtle. And now Lily, she’s a lot more confident – she’s rocking her outfit!. And finally Laura J – this girl is all smiles!

Now Katie, Samantha and Laura M are up. They owned the catwalks – all looking very comfortable up there. Gok Wan has been named as an inspiring figure – and the baby of the group, Katie is all for showing the Simply Be collection on her lovely curves!

Maria and Emily make an amazing duo as they take to the catwalk. Maria turns the conversation to Nigella Lawson, a woman who really knows how to work her curves. Meanwhile, Emily is literally rocking the stage in her rock ‘n roll outfit. This is one stylish lady.

Another set of girls have just taken to the stage. There’s Jennifer, newly confident and raring to go. Joanne looks gorgeous in a black and white stripe dress, and Amy is really showing off her curves in that beautiful dress.

Next we have Sophie, wearing a leopard print maxi dress, it’s a real stunner. Christel’s found inspiration in Beyonce – and I think we’re all with her on that, curves worked to the max. While Catherine is stunning the judges in a bright red dress. This is a fabulous line up – three girls with gorgeous curves and amazing style.

Carlie and Jessica are on stage now and the judges have their questions ready! They’ve asked Jessica to talk about her outfit and she’s done a really good job. It’s ‘ethnic meets 70′s chic’ – and after her gushing review, I kind of want one myself. For Carlie, the question was ‘who inspires you?’ and she’s the first of our finalists to say ‘no one’. Her style comes from within, she puts her personal stamp on everything.

And that’s it. The catwalk is done and the judges have gone to deliberate. Soon we’ll know who the top five are – but I’ve got to tell you, I don’t know who it’ll be. They’re all gorgeous, all curvy and as far as I’m concerned, every one of them is a model in the making!
