The finals of the Simply Be sponsored Ms Curvaceous UK 2012 model competition took place – take a look at our Facebook photo album to see all the gorgeous finalists working Simply Be fashion on the catwalk.

The winner was the stunning Simone Charles – congratulations Simone from the team at Simply Be!

Hanna and Allie both rocked our PU sleeve trench in preparation for all the April showers – a very wise fashion buy we’d say! Don’t they look amazing?

We were also bowled over by Em’s ‘Smouldering Love Letter to Simply Be‘ – it left us blushing!

April saw us officially christen our shiny new Leicester store, with a VIP store event plus guest appearance and ribbon cutting by none-other than Gemma Collins from The Only Way Is Essex.

Turning Japanese – Kimono Chic!

Lots of celebs have been spotted rocking the kimono trend recently, from Miley Cyrus to Nicole Richie. Check them out>>

Luckily for ladies everywhere, unlike some trends, the kimono shape is such an easy style to wear. It’s chic, sophisticated and a brilliant way to add a burst of colour to a plain outfit, showcasing some truly stunning prints. Just go with the flowing shape! Or, if you have an hourglass figure, simply add a waist cinching belt. You could even go all the way by adding a Geisha-style obi belt.

Here are some of our favourite kimono jackets and dresses from our current collection:

Georgette Print Kimono Jacket

How to wear a kimono jacket

We’d recommend layering over a cami top – you can’t go wrong with black and white, or pick out a toning colour from your kimono print. Then if it’s a sheer jacket you can reveal that little peek of skin – sexy in a subtle way!

Then add palazzo pants for a really Japanese feel. You can go dressy with plain black trousers – you won’t find a more comfortable evening outfit! Or keep it casual with denim look palazzo pants.

Chunky shoes will top off that Geisha-esque look, either fabulous cork heeled platforms or some towering wedge heels.

Alternatively, dress down your kimono in boho or festival style with fringed sandals, a maxi skirt and lots of hippy accessories! Day or night a kimono jacket will give you effortless on-trend style.

Whether you want to create the impression of incredible curves, or you just want to show off the gorgeous curves you already have to the max, an optical illusion dress is the on-trend way to do it! By using different blocks of colour at the centre and edge of the dress, the eye is drawn to the inner  panel of the dress to dramatic effect.

It’s no surprise that the optical illusion dress has been such a huge hit with celebrities – check out this gallery of gorgeous optical illusion dresses! Kate Winslet, Kim Kardashian and many more have been see wowing the crowds in this amazing style.

Our Monochrome Silhouette Dress is the perfect example of an optical illusion dress:

Gorgeous blogger Allie rocked this dress at a cinema premiere recently – fab or what?

We also have a fierce black and red optical illusion dress – but this one is selling out fast ladies so you’ll have to be quick to get the remaining sizes!

Why not try an optical illusion pencil skirt instead? It creates the look of incredible curves!

For those who aren’t keen on the hip-hugging pencil skirt shape of most optical illusion dresses, the slightly A-line shift dress style of our Anna Scholz Retro Colour Block Dress is the perfect way to work the trend.

Would you work this trend? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Suitcase Must-Haves for a Holiday Wardrobe that Works!

Posted on 11 April 2012

Tagged: , , , ,

Whether you’re the kind of person that starts putting things in a suitcase weeks in advance, or you’re a last minute pressure-packing of a gal, there’s nothing worse than arriving at your destination and then realising that, somehow, you still have nothing to wear! Nothing goes together – disaster!

The secret to a suitcase that works is to think about how things can be combined – and then dressed up or down for different occasions.

Here are our key holiday picks to help form the backbone of your holiday wardrobe…

Day to Night Maxi Dress / Jumpsuit

Find a maxi dress that suits your style and with the right accessories you’ll be able to wear it both day and night. This cotton maxi dress will keep you lovely and cool. Likewise a jumpsuit is perfect for casually mooching down to the beach but will also look sensational with heels and lots of jewellery for evening dinner and drinks.

 Versatile bottoms

Denim and white linen goes with just about everything so they make for great mix and match day time pieces. For alternatives that will take you through to evening, try palazzo pants or a maxi skirt.

Multipack tops

Find a top style you like and choose a pack with a few colour options. Black and white is always a safe bet but think about what colours will complement they other things you’re taking.

Cover ups/ layers

Whether you simply like a little more coverage or you just want to be prepared for a change in weather, it’s always a good idea to take some layers with you. Even in hot countries evenings can get chilly. Leggings will come in very handy for laying under skirts and dresses if the sun’s not quite what you were hoping for.

Take these basics and add a few of your favourite fashion pieces plus some fabulous accessories and you’ll be pretty much there when it comes to creating a holiday wardrobe that works for you.
